PAT Testing

Quidne IT operate a PAT (Portable Appliance Testing) service throughout Oxfordshire, Wiltshire and Gloustershire.

We provide a comprehensive and cost effective PAT testing solution that complies with Electricity at Work Regulations giving our customers peace of mind that their appliances are in safe hands.

Not only do we provide the inspection & testing, we take care of the record keeping & the planned maintenance aspect. Basically you can pass the electrical safety aspect of your business over to ourselves.

Interestingly, most electricians do not have the necessary training or equipment for PAT testing. It is, therefore, imperative that the work is carried out by a qualified tester with calibrated equipment.

Our qualified engineers start with a visual inspection checking for:

  • Damaged flexes
  • Damaged plugs and equipment (overheating, burn marks, discolouration…)
  • Correctly wired plugs
  • Correctly rated fuse

Then a series of tests are carried out using the latest computerised PAT testing equipment. Depending on the class of equipment, they may include:

  • Earth continuity testing
  • Insulation resistance
  • Polarity test
  • Earth leakage test

Minor faults highlighted during inspection of the appliances can be repaired as we find them and then retested. Un-repairable or dangerous faults will result in the appliance being failed and labeled accordingly.

During testing all portable appliances will be labeled and numbered  to enable easy identification in the event of a Health & Safety inspection.

On completion of the testing we will issue a safety certificate and a detailed report identifying each appliance with information on the tests carried out. This is available in either hard copy or electronic format.
